Yesterday I was a little disappointed that we did not see any of the live herd of buffaloes at the museum.  I especially wanted to see a white buffalo and I think there are two currently in the herd.  The director told me that she had seen the herd in the field early that morning so we decided to drive there early this morning to see if we could spot them.  And we were successful!!!

This one is named Dakota Miracle.  I really had to zoom in to get these pictures.  I also spotted this little one in the picture below.  I think it is a white buffalo too!  I sent this picture to the director to ask her to confirm it but I haven't heard back yet.

After tearing myself away from the herd, we stopped in at Anytime Fitness for a quick aerobics workout -- 45 minutes on the elliptical trainer.

Before going back to the hotel to shower and get ready to check out, we went to Babb's Coffee Shop for ice tea and coffee.  Driving there we saw lots of people lining the road with chairs like they were getting ready for a parade.  And they were.  It was White Cloud Day and they were holding a parade to celebrate her.  Babbs even gave away white cloud cookies with the purchase of tea or coffee.  Too much fun!  We wanted to stay for the parade but we had other plans.

We drove to Washburn, ND to see the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.  The Center is newly-renovated and very interesting.  Out front there is a statute of Lewis and Clark and the Chief of the Mandam Tribe that helped the expedition survive the Winter before moving on to the Pacific Ocean.  It provided a good explanation of exactly what their mission was and what President Jefferson expected of them.

Just a few miles down the road is approximately where Fort Mandan was located.  It is a full scale, fully-furnished replica of the fort.  It's a fascinating place and the Park Ranger there, Kaitlan, was happy to answer all of our questions.

Truly a good history lesson for me or a history reminder.  It was a leisurely drive from there to Bismarck, ND, where we planned to spend the night.  I took a couple pictures of the Missouri on the drive.

We checked into the hotel and went to the hotel bar for a cocktail before dinner and bed.  This vacationing tires us out!!!
