As planned, we got up at 5:00 a.m. and left the hotel around 6:00. We missed the Jacksonville work traffic and drove for about an hour before stopping for coffee and ice tea. Around 11:00 we stopped at a Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Just as good as always!
After breakfast I set myself up in the back seat the way Linda Neff taught me. You push the front seat all the way forward and then lower the back all the way (take off the headrest). Then climb in the back seat and you have the most wonderful lounge chair to ride in with your legs and feet elevated!
Because I have had a couple of blood clots in my legs I always try to travel this way on long road trips. You should all try it!
David did almost all of the driving until we were about to get into downtown Richmond and then I drove so he could navigate. The total mileage was 596 and I drove a total of 71 miles. Yes, that worked out pretty well for me. It was pretty much smooth sailing the whole way with just a little traffic build up driving into downtown Richmond. The temperature reached 98 here today so riding in the car was not a bad place to be.
We checked in and then just had a light dinner in the hotel restaurant. We cannot continue to eat and drink like we did in Jacksonville or we will both gain back all of the weight we lost!
It's about 9:30 p.m. and I'm about to relax and read my book.
Sleep tight!
