What a fantastic Saturday we had!  The morning started slowly with good coffee and ice tea.  It felt so good to just relax and not run around attending to all the details of moving.

Around Noon Jason and Leslie picked us up at the hotel and drove us to St. Augustine -- one of our favorite places in Florida.  On the drive there we saw many billboards advertising The Alligator Farm.  I had visited it years ago and kept reassuring Jason that we did not need to stop there again!  He thought it was quite humerous when this was where I was seated at the restaurant.

I didn't even realize it until David showed me this picture.  Then, of course, he made Leslie and me pose like we were shocked we were going to be eaten by an alligator!

We had a delicious lunch at The Floridian restaurant which is a farm to table restaurant and we all loved our lunches.

After lunch we strolled around old town St. Augustine looking in the shops and people watching.  When we got too hot we ducked into the Prohibition Kitchen for a cocktail.  It is a very popular restaurant/bar and it provided the cool atmosphere we were seeking.  Leslie saw out the window that the sky was bcoming very dark and the wind had picked up and we knew a storm was on the way.  We ran to the car and drove back to Jacksonville.

It was time for Leslie and Jason to feed and walk their dogs so we went to their house.  I didn't get a picture of cute Sugar but here is a picture of Princess.

After visiting and listening to music for awhile we took Uber to the Whiteway Deli & Tavern for dinner.  Surprisingly, it is the oldest restaurant in Jacksonville.  The restaurant is composed of, I think, three separate rooms and we had one room all to ourselves.  It was just a great time with friends whom we love!

Back in our hotel room we were treated to quite the display of fireworks!

I didn't get great photographs but the show was fantastic.  Here are a couple pictures of the Jacksonville skyline.

Until tomorrow, good night.

I don't think we realized how tired we were!  David and I woke up about 7:00 a.m., talked about what we would do today, and promptly fell back asleep.  We woke up again around 10:00!  But what's the hurry???

We had a leisurely and expensive breakfast here in the hotel and then walked over to the downtown Jacksonville Anytime Fitness to workout.  It is a new space on the second floor of an office building and it is huge!  The biggest Anytime Fitness we've been in to date.  The staff members were very nice and welcoming and they have a great motivational wall.

We had a great workout and then returned to the hotel to get cleaned up to go meet Jason and Leslie for dinner.

David and I took Uber to their house so we could see their puppies.  Two pomeranians named Sugar and Princess.  We love them!  Then we all took Uber to the cool part of Jacksonville called Five Points.  We first stopped at Hoptinger's for a drink and appetizers.  Leslie ordered Cheeseheads which were beer-battered fresh Wisconsin cheddar cheese curds served with ranch dressing.  So good!  And she also ordered a healthy veggie flatbread.  Which appetizer do you think we ate first?  Hoptinger's has a fabulous roof top bar but it was wwwaaayyy too hot for any of us to be interested in sitting up there.

Then we walked over to a Pan-Asian restaurant called Kaika.  We sat at a "hot table" and enjoyed watching the chef cook our meal.  It was delicious and we so enjoyed catching up with our friends.

After dinner we said goodnight and each couple took Uber home.  What a great evening in Jacksonville.

About two years ago David and I decided it was time to downsize and move to a condo in a walkable, small city.  We began the arduous process of selling David's truck, trailer and race car, plus sorting through all of our belongings to see what we could live without.  It took a lot of time and it was a lot of work, but this morning at 10:00 we signed the closing papers selling our home of 15 years.  This picture shows us at the closing table.

From the attorney's office where we signed the papers we headed directly to Jacksonville, Florida to visit our friends Jason and Leslie.  Their house is currently undergoing construction so we checked into the Hyatt Regency.  We settled in and then took Uber to one of our favorite restaurants called "Mossfire Grill." The resturant/bar serves Southwestern food and we had a few cocktails, appetizers and dinner there.  We celebrated the selling of our house with Jason and Leslie and discussed many ideas of what we would do next.  The possibilities are limitless!

We had any early evening because it had been a long day of driving for us and Jason and Leslie had to work on Friday.
